06 Feb Why I’m Looking Forward to the 2013 Orange Conference
The Orange Conference is a yearly gathering of over 5,000 family ministry leaders (church volunteers and staff). It’s people who serve preschool kids, elementary kids and students, as well as senior pastors, all gathering to learn from each other. In reality it’s much more than that too, but here are some reasons I’m looking forward to this year’s Orange Conference.
The theme this year is Focus. It’s about eliminating distractions and focusing on what matters. Like all of you I’m sure, focus is hard for me to have and it only gets harder the older I get. On our church staff I split my time between serving on our staff leadership team, serving as family ministry leader, and serving as student minister while we search to hire our next student minister. I also get to help support our information technology and web presence. I’m not alone. Most of us in ministry are pulled in many directions. Focus is a timely topic for me and I can’t wait to learn how to improve it at the Orange Conference.
For the first time we’ll have student ministry volunteers coming to the Orange Conference with our team. I’m really looking forward to having them there and seeing them experience it.
I can’t leave out the constant things that are big reasons why I love the Orange Conference:
- Learning from great leaders.
- Worshiping with thousands.
- Talking to old friends and making new ones.
- Talking to the Orange staff (Seriously, they’re amazing.)
- Seeing and talking with exhibitors and sponsors.
- Spending time with our team.
I could write even more things I’m looking forward to, but I’d love to hear from you. Comment below if you plan on attending the Orange Conference and let me know what you’re looking forward to.
